world domination >: )
First topic message reminder :
Suppose to be finishing my tok essay... but IB teaches you how to master procrastination so I'm here.
Time for some rant, maybe i'll get some inspirations for that damn essay...
--disclaimer: for those toddlers who's not suppose to see vulgar langauge used... you shouldn't be here anyway----
I'm from China, consider myself Chinese, and I love China. If you got a problem with China, then fuck you.
I really get pissed and annoyed when people bitch about China on things like Tibet, human rights, military expansion, falun gong... pretty much anything that's hypocritical. Having lived in China for 9 years of my life, I have no idea what people are bitching about all the time. Sure, the air could be better, and there could be more trees, and maybe people can be nicer to each other, but overal it's a pretty good place. I would go back if i could just for the food.
I just hate it when idiots blame it on the government for anything that happens, espcially when they go a step further and say it would be better if China turned democratic. Two words: SCREW OFF. Democracy comes with its own set of problems, and China has pretty much just settled down after a shitload of turmoil. Going from getting gangbanged by 8 countries, fighting crack and opium dealers, and of course the sino-jap war and then the civil war. To think, getting from being picked on by everyone to getting feared/respected by everyone in about 50 years is a pretty danm impressive accomplishment. Show me a case where democracy yielded such exponential growth in a timespan of 50 years. I'm not saying democracy sucks, even though it does; i'm saying if it works for you, great - but don't force it on others when it's not going to fucken work.
Getting that out of the way, I love politics and debating, planning to be a lawyer someday and then get into politics, and then rule the world. and in case you haven't realized by now, I'm a communist, a godless communist. That being said, i also love to discuss about science, espcially if it's religion vs. science. I'm also pretty keen on the economy and history, I find them to be fairly good discussion topics that can go on for quite a while if you get people who knows what they're talking about.
Music: Pretty much anything that has a decent melody.
Movie: anything except horror and cheesy romance
Food: ... too lazy to list all of them
Tv show: House, The Big Bang Theory (best show ever), Avatar the Last Airbender
Likes/Hobbies: debate, argue, internet, tennis, ping pong, biking, nordic skiing, video games
and oh, since I'm in IB, I pretty much mastered the bullshitting technique - which means I can also see through lies pretty easily, espcially if I know the culprit well.
Without futhur ado, flame on

Re: world domination >: )
a few quick questions...
1.) why did you choose to name this thread world domination? (i like it i was just wondering why)
2.) my chinese teacher (who is from China) and i were having a discussion about which country is really more free; China or America. We sort of come to the conclusion that is was both depending on how you looked at it. America provides for more "freedoms" in it's legislation, but he always talked about how you could get away with so much more in China thus giving people more "freedom" XD
do you have any thoughts on the matter?
3.) do you have a QQ account? i got one to keep in touch with my chinese teacher as well as some his friends he introduced me too. problem: i downloaded it on my old desktop, and 2 weeks later tit stopped working for some reason and all the troubleshooting is in mandrin! >.< (sorry i only got through chinese 1 in my last year of high school for fun so my mandrin sucks)
any way you could help me? its kinda a messed up situation i know 0.o

Awright,
recently a guy on the Daily Show said "I'm not that different from the
people who want to get rid of all nuclear weapons. I just want to get
rid of all of them, except those held in the good U.S. of A." (Not
exactly like that, but you get the gist.)
Are you as pissed about that as I am?
hahaha. i'm not really pissed off, i just accept that there are idiots in the world. i doubt he's in a position of power, so meh.

1. because my friends always joked that i'd take over the world one day
2. i'd say they're about the same. china doesn't give you any freedom in terms of critizing the government and trying to start change; the u.s. makes it seem like you have freedom in those aspect, but you don't. i mean yeah, you can talk shit about government like i am right now, and i probably won't get arrested; but at the end of the day, nothing's going to change cause talk is just talk. in those society, those who think they have freedom are the dreamers. everyone's bound by society's rules, bound by obligations, bound by money; but take away those and you will have no order. so... freedom is only an illusion to me.
3. nope I don't use qq, but if you screen shot some pictures then i can probably translate for you.

Re: world domination >: )
While I agree with you partially, the main point of a Democracy is regular elections; freedom of speech can (if you're really, really lucky) convince people to vote one way or another, whether on a president, a new law, or government funding.
Universal morals cripple the feeling of freedom, though... as does, obviously, a lack of money. But that's a necessary evil. If you weren't able (or forced) to use money, the only freedom it'd give you is to barter (which you already can, with difficulty) or do/make whatever it is you want yourself (which you already can, with difficulty).
Unfortunately, Socialism wouldn't completely work either...

Re: world domination >: )
hm... well, democracy doesnt work everywhere. I mean really, the places where it can use democracy doesn't really have democracy, like the middle east; and the place that democracy works doesnt really need it, e.g. sweden which elects the socialist government EVERY TIME, so kinda no point.
I mean yeah, socialism is working quite well for them, but only because the people have a common interest, and they work towards it. Compared to the states, the government at this point just doesn't work that well, because the people are too divided on any given issue, too extreme on either sides, caused by the idiotic media that has waaay too much influence on the population.

Re: world domination >: )
I agree with you on the idiotic media, and you touch on a good point with Sweden. But the thing is, people's opinion's change; if Sweden has an entirely socialist government in place, and the next generation of people prefers capitalism, or even a dictatorship, who's to deny them? All that you can really do is make sure the majority of people are as happy as possible; and elections, in the long run, help to do that.
Honestly, political parties, capable leaders, even general progression as a country; all of this pales in importance compared to whether or not people are simply HAPPY with their government. After all, is a government's job not to protect the happiness of its people?
(Also, when did your thread die? >__>)
