world domination >: )
First topic message reminder :
Suppose to be finishing my tok essay... but IB teaches you how to master procrastination so I'm here.
Time for some rant, maybe i'll get some inspirations for that damn essay...
--disclaimer: for those toddlers who's not suppose to see vulgar langauge used... you shouldn't be here anyway----
I'm from China, consider myself Chinese, and I love China. If you got a problem with China, then fuck you.
I really get pissed and annoyed when people bitch about China on things like Tibet, human rights, military expansion, falun gong... pretty much anything that's hypocritical. Having lived in China for 9 years of my life, I have no idea what people are bitching about all the time. Sure, the air could be better, and there could be more trees, and maybe people can be nicer to each other, but overal it's a pretty good place. I would go back if i could just for the food.
I just hate it when idiots blame it on the government for anything that happens, espcially when they go a step further and say it would be better if China turned democratic. Two words: SCREW OFF. Democracy comes with its own set of problems, and China has pretty much just settled down after a shitload of turmoil. Going from getting gangbanged by 8 countries, fighting crack and opium dealers, and of course the sino-jap war and then the civil war. To think, getting from being picked on by everyone to getting feared/respected by everyone in about 50 years is a pretty danm impressive accomplishment. Show me a case where democracy yielded such exponential growth in a timespan of 50 years. I'm not saying democracy sucks, even though it does; i'm saying if it works for you, great - but don't force it on others when it's not going to fucken work.
Getting that out of the way, I love politics and debating, planning to be a lawyer someday and then get into politics, and then rule the world. and in case you haven't realized by now, I'm a communist, a godless communist. That being said, i also love to discuss about science, espcially if it's religion vs. science. I'm also pretty keen on the economy and history, I find them to be fairly good discussion topics that can go on for quite a while if you get people who knows what they're talking about.
Music: Pretty much anything that has a decent melody.
Movie: anything except horror and cheesy romance
Food: ... too lazy to list all of them
Tv show: House, The Big Bang Theory (best show ever), Avatar the Last Airbender
Likes/Hobbies: debate, argue, internet, tennis, ping pong, biking, nordic skiing, video games
and oh, since I'm in IB, I pretty much mastered the bullshitting technique - which means I can also see through lies pretty easily, espcially if I know the culprit well.
Without futhur ado, flame on

I'm gonna have to go into one, and I was thinkin' the airforce. Mostly because then (hopefully) I would learn how to fly planes, which would be a really cool skill to have later in life. ^^
(I have to go into one because my family's not gonna have enough money to pay my college tuition...)

Just make sure to focus on math above all else. On the ASVAB, they test you on everything from rationalization (Imagine what all these pieces would look like put together into a shape) even a section on electronics (Resistances, Ohms, and the like.) Also, if you wear glasses, there is a cutoff to how bad your vision can be, but if it can be fixed to 20/20 using LASEK, then the military will front the bill assuming you did well on the ASVAB. (At least a 70 or so.) But quite a few flyboy positions require perfect vision for your entire life, even LASEK can't get you a waiver. In any case, the Air Force has a thousand jobs for computers and the like, so if you like that, then go for it. If you go into a high demand field, then you'll get a sign on bonus. (For SEAL, I'll get on the order of 40k or so.) :bounce:

I'll play him then. Not really that competitive, so I don't care if he "kicks my ass".

Thanks for the info, KoI. I knew about the fact that I'd have to get LASEK, but not that I still might not get accepted... ;-;
And that's interesting zijian: I started my life learning how to fight with words, and in 3 years, I'm gonna have to learn how to fight with guns. ^^;
Anyways... do you play Toribash? >.>

Don't mention it. Also, might I add, probably have a better chance at flying a plane in the Navy... (We have more planes.) But yeah, just look it up, the military websites are really open about requirements, limitations, and the like. As they always want to find more people for the high demand jobs.

So far, I'm thinkin' CCT (Combat Controller) sounds pretty good... does that get paid based on an officer or enlisted payroll? (I'm not entirely sure how those work...)
The only thing I'd have to work on is the 1.5 miles in 11.41 minutes; I can do 12 pull-ups, 60-someodd pushups per minute, and 60-someodd crunches per minute. :DDDD (Last time I checked, I had an IQ of 131 too, so yay!)
Anyways, zijian, do you prefer ice cream, popsicles, or fruit, and why?

Well, if you do well enough on the ASVAB, and you did well in High School. Then chances are they'll bring you in as a commissioned officer. (They have programs for that, ask your recruiter.) Usually at the lowest officer rank there is, O-1. In the Navy it's Ensign, in the AF it's Second Lieutenant. But even if you don't get a commisioned officer spot, when you apply for, get accepted into, and end up writing a contract for that type of thing, (SEAL is quite similar, so it'll be vaguely along the lines of mine.) You'll probably make E-4, or E-5 out of boot (Or whatever initial training there is for CCT.)
The initial training for CCT is at Lackland AFB, which is literally right up the road from me. I go there a few times a month. But this would be considered Spec-Ops, so the most important thing you can do, is to have a positive mindset. (And you have to WANT it. No half-assing this kind of thing. If you do try for it, apply yourself as best you can.) And try not to get overly muscular. It's a good idea to be proportioned properly. The really large people usually fail out of Spec-Ops training cause they weigh too much and therefore can't push themselves far enough. So being a little on the lighter side isn't a bad thing. I'm 6'2, 185 lbs, and that's pretty close to what I should be. (11% body fat, so most is muscle.) Anyway, as for the specifics, ask a recruiter or look it up online. I can give you the general things (Like differences between Enlisted and Officer) But in the end I'm in the Navy, so I don't know all the nuances of the AF. :cool:

Last time I checked, I was about 140. :uhh: (And like, 5'7" XP)
Just to make sure you noticed, I am 15... this is for when I go, not that I'm going right now.:DDD
So can you be an officer in any particular area of the forces? Or is it particular jobs that offer officer status?
As for zijian: when did your topic become a Q&A about the military? ^^;

All the better, means you have more time to sculpt yourself to be ready for it. I joke you not, that you have to want it. And after you've earned it, people tend to respect you for it. SEALs get what we call the trident. (It has a trident on it, hence the nickname.) And when other sailors, or anyone for that matter who knows what it is, see it, they'll get out of your way. I'd assume that it's the same in the AF for CCTs. Also, to be allowed into an officer program (Called OCS in the Navy.) You need to be in the top percentile in high school. (Think at least top 10%) So, since you are only 15, you have the time to do things properly. I screwed around in high school, so I didn't qualify for OCS, but I can get catapulted to officer if I prove myself.

But um... maybe we should give this thread back to zijian, eh? ^^;
